Green Valley Crossing, a church in cooperation with the SBC, has adopted the Baptist Faith and Message (2000) as their Statement of Belief. It can be found in its entirety at Southern Baptist Faith & Message
To give you a better idea as to what The Crossing believes/teaches,
We affirm that the Bible holds authority in the life of a Christian, so we preach it faithfully.
We believe that God the Father is sovereignly working out His will in the world.
We believe that Jesus, the perfect Son of God, died for the sin that corrupted life.
We agree that all people everywhere are called to trust in Christ and turn from their sin as part of their salvation.
We confess that the Spirit of God is ruling and reigning in the lives of His people.
We believe that the Church is God’s chosen institution to proclaim His message to all of creation.
We affirm that salvation is by grace through faith in Christ, and that believers have a job to do as a result.
We think that church should be an expression of joy, not a funeral service, so we make sure it’s relevant to the modern age.
We believe the Church should graciously engage the culture rather than run from it.
We understand that every individual is on a unique journey, so we welcome all types of people to make discoveries about Jesus with us.
We bank on the fact that life has no purpose and meaning apart from a relationship with God, so we unashamedly proclaim the grace-filled, life-changing message of Jesus to the world.
We understand that Jesus will one day come back to judge this world and everyone in it.
Our Vision
God will use us to “move the needle.” Since we’re Christians who believe the Bible, and we believe that Jesus has sent us to call others to faith in Him, we live Him daily. We could live for ourselves, our jobs, or our families, etc. But that’s not what He called us to. We live IN Him, FOR Him, BY Him, THROUGH Him, WITH Him…we live Him in our daily lives. He guides and controls everything–it’s all about Him.
Over the next several years, we will leverage all that we are and all that we have in an effort to see 1% of the population within 5 miles of our church encounter Jesus (salvation), take the first step of discipleship (baptism), and engage in Biblical community (life groups), becoming empowered for kingdom life every single day. “Moving the needle” means that we have a clear metric that shows us how many people moved from spiritually disconnected to follower of Jesus under our influence. We’re after 1%, and we’re asking for more churches to join us.
