Plainfield Church Plant Update

October 30, 2026

Dear Green Valley Crossing Family,

We want to share an important update regarding the potential church plant in Plainfield, Connecticut.

Over the past few years, we have had the privilege of walking alongside Joshua and Rachel Mancini as we prayerfully considered the possibility of sending them to plant a church. It is with great sadness that we have to inform you that our relationship as the sending church for the Mancini’s has come to an end.

After much prayer, conversation, consideration of recent developments , along with our calling to foster the health and unity of this church, we cannot affirm that Josh and Rachel are ready to be sent out from GVC to plant a church at this moment in time. This was not a decision made lightly, nor was it the outcome we had hoped for. However, we recognize the significant responsibility we have before God, both for our church family and for those who would become part of a future church plant, and we must remain faithful to that responsibility.

While we expressed this initially as a pause on their reassessment, and had begun to prayerfully process with the exec team what we could recommend as next steps for them, Joshua and Rachel expressed their disagreement with our decision, resigned their membership at Green Valley Crossing, and communicated their intention to move forward with planting a church independently.

We want to emphasize that we love Joshua and Rachel and care deeply for their family. We ask our church family to respond with grace and love and to pray for the Mancinis. We recognize that this news may raise questions, and we encourage you to reach out to one of us if you would like to talk further. In all of this, we do not want to give the devil a foothold by promulgating gossip or slander. We always want to “take the lead in honoring one another” (Romans 12:10 csb). We plan to dedicate a portion of our family business meeting on November 15th at 6 pm to giving you an opportunity to raise questions or concerns. Above all, we remain committed to faithfully shepherding God’s people and advancing the gospel of Jesus Christ.

With love in Christ,
